Meet the team – Danny Norris

There is a new oodler amongst us!

We’re thrilled to welcome Danny to oodle, the design agency within the Systematic family. After excelling in a highly competitive recruitment process, Danny has joined us with a wealth of skills, experience, and a creative approach that truly sets them apart.

Danny brings a strong background in freelance work and collaborations with various marketing teams, delivering impactful digital and print materials designed to drive sales and engagement. With a particular expertise in enhancing visual identities, especially within the retail sector, Danny has consistently helped brands stand out and connect with their audiences.

As Danny dives into oodle’s signature approach to creativity with oomph, we thought we’d share a few insights…

So Danny, why oodle?

“oodle and Systematic’s values align perfectly with my own. Their commitment to producing high-quality work and embracing sustainability resonates with me deeply. I was also drawn to the collaborative spirit here – working with a full team of design experts is an incredible opportunity to push creative boundaries. oodle’s past projects are proof of the team’s talent, with a portfolio brimming with inspiring work for an impressive range of clients. It doesn’t hurt that everyone here is super friendly and fosters a great work culture too! Who wouldn’t want to be part of that?”

Can you tell us about your creative experience?

“I started my career as a Homeware Designer at NEXT after earning my BA (Hons) in Product Design. Many of the products I designed featured graphic artwork and typography, which sparked my passion for graphic design and pushed me to hone my skills further. Fast forward eight years, and I’ve had the chance to work on a diverse range of projects across multiple sectors. Some highlights include designing the website and marketing for a premium fashion retailer, crafting a brand for a cocktail bar, creating branding and signage for new property developments, and designing marketing materials for bars and music venues. It’s been a varied and exciting journey, and I’m thrilled to bring all this experience to oodle.”

What’s your favourite type of design brief?

“I love it when a client comes to us with an exciting new business idea that needs to come to life. Those moments are brimming with creative potential. Building a brand from the ground up is such a rewarding process and it results in thoughtful, cohesive design that can stand the test of time. It’s especially exciting to work with passionate clients who genuinely want to make an impact on the world. That shared enthusiasm often results in strong, impactful brand projects where we can do so much more than ‘just a logo’; it’s about creating something meaningful and lasting.”

Any design trends that businesses should be watching?

“Clearly AI tools are worth keeping an eye on – it’s incredible how they can enhance our workflows and allow us to quickly create impressive visuals. In contrast, there’s always an appetite for authentic, handmade design and craftsmanship; people still appreciate a hand painted shop sign or a lino printed Christmas card. I believe there’s space for both in the design world and we should embrace tech innovations whilst not forgetting those essential design skills that require a human touch.”

What keeps you busy beyond oodle?

“When I’m not designing, you’ll probably find me wandering the countryside, pottering about in the garden or cooking hearty meals in the kitchen. I’m also a big advocate for growing your own veg, it’s easier than most people think. Potatoes, lettuce and garlic are a great place to start for anyone looking to give it a go! Whether it’s a productive afternoon in the garden or a long walk in nature, I love anything that helps me recharge and stay inspired for the next big project.”
