Adding value to local councils

For 50 years, we have worked closely with our public sector clients, including local councils, ensuring our services evolve to meet their diverse and emerging needs. Our approach is tailored, collaborative, and focused on transferring proven solutions across different regions. With trusted expertise in processes, services, and products, we deliver effective outcomes that local councils can rely on.

We’re on your team without being in your team. Our wealth of knowledge and specialisms complements council marketing teams, enhancing their service and stakeholder engagement. Our expertise spans brand design, 2D animation, printed marketing materials, mailing campaigns, event marketing, and sustainable corporate gifts, ensuring we meet your unique requirements.

Key priorities we address:

1. Delivering value for money

In today’s challenging financial climate, value for money is paramount for councils. Leveraging our purchasing power and long-standing relationships with UK production teams, we provide cost-effective solutions tailored to your needs.

As part of our print management model, we validate and optimise production specifications before engage with several potential suppliers in. Our subsequent proposals are aligned with your priorities – offering the best combination of price and timescales, alongside production quality.

2. Coordinating printed resources

With councils reassessing their property portfolios, there may be reduced or uncertain storage options. We offer stockholding services that bring continuity and efficiency to managing printed assets. This allows councils to order higher volumes of materials, reducing unit costs through economies of scale whilst reducing their carbon footprint due to production and delivery efficiencies, whilst also ensuring the availability of essential resources.

We handle fulfilment and delivery using a mix of our fully electric fleet and trusted couriers, with online systems for easy stock call-offs and comprehensive management reporting.

3. A full-service solution

As council teams take on more diverse responsibilities, we provide peace of mind by managing projects end-to-end. From researching and costing proposals, to creative design and project management, we’re here to deliver results.

Through our design agency, oodle, we bring fresh, impactful ideas to life. Every client is supported by a dedicated Account Manager and Project Manager, ensuring consistent, bespoke service. Our team attends account review meetings, oversees management reports, and maintains continuity, which is highly valued by our public sector clients.

4. Maintaining brand consistency

Amid structural reorganisations and service consolidations, we help councils protect and strengthen their brand identity. Through oodle, we create, refine, and apply brand guidelines across printed and digital platforms, ensuring seamless and impactful communications.

5. Prioritising sustainable procurement

Sustainability is a shared value between us and our public sector clients. Since achieving ISO 14001 accreditation in 2009, we’ve been committed to reducing our environmental impacts. Over the last two years, we have calculated our direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scopes 1, 2, and 3) in line with the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard. Our aim is to be verified carbon neutral in 2025 against the new international standard ISO 14068. We are also proud to be accredited to the Good Business Charter.

We recognise the role that we have in helping our clients to improve the sustainability of their purchasing, knowledge and intent that we factor into our recommendations. For print and label projects this will include using FSC-certified paper, minimising waste, and avoiding non-recyclable finishes. In mailing campaigns we can improve targeting and database accuracy to reduce waste. When considering branded promotional products, we focus on quality, durability and practicality.

6. Supporting you as an approved supplier

We understand the due diligence involved in onboarding new suppliers. Once approved, we offer comprehensive support across a range of projects. Project briefs that we regularly progress for councils include; garden waste mailing contracts, leaflet creation for visitor economies, newsletter design and printing, exhibition display items and branded giveaways. Often, we’ll add to the capabilities of council’s in-house print teams, by handling projects beyond the remit of their own equipment.

7. Flexible purchasing and invoicing

Our services are designed to meet the diverse procurement needs of councils. We can operate on a project-by-project basis or within framework agreements, providing reliable proposals for competitive tendering processes. Invoicing can be customised – collated or split across cost centres – while offering flexible 30-day payment terms.

Let’s get started

Our partnerships with councils across the UK are built on flexibility, cost-effectiveness, high-quality service, and compliance with regulations such as sustainability and data protection.
Accredited to ISO 9001 and 14001 standards and aligned with the Good Business Charter, we share your values and commitment to people and the planet. With a proven approach to delivery, we’re ready to meet your needs and invest in a successful partnership.
