Star Academies are committed to nurturing today’s young people in social and economic deprivation areas to improve their life chances and succeed at the highest levels of education and employment. The team at Laisterdyke Leadership Academy are part of that vision.
When we received the challenge, “Can you help to make our school library look more inspiring and colourful?” we jumped at the opportunity to apply our creativity to a project that encompassed three of our specialisms; design, print and signage.
A site visit enabled us to take in the library’s atmosphere, capturing photographs and measurements and evolving the brief of creating unique artwork that would appeal to age groups across the secondary school. Our Design Team interpreted iconic literary characters in the designs, harmonised through a consistent, illustrative style across different natural contexts, including forest, ocean and mountains. Sketches evolved into digital illustrations, bringing a multiverse of figures to different library walls. To ensure that our client had a clear vision of the intended result, we imposed the designs on our photographs of the space.
No amends were proposed to our visuals, and we were assured that we had created something special for Laisterdyke Leadership Academy! The designs were printed as Foamex and vinyl wall graphics and installed by the specialist team we commissioned. They were even credited with leaving the library in an immaculate condition, a small yet essential point!
We’re delighted that our creativity has brought a new buzz to this vital space within the Academy.
